Russian Suicide Bus Bombing Sparks Terrorism Fears for Sochi Olympics

Naida Asiyalova, the suicide bomber who blew herself up on Monday on a crowded bus in the Russian city of Volgograd, killing six people and wounding dozens more, was born in the town of Buynaksk, a huddle of mosques and squat apartment blocks in the foothills of the Russian Caucasus. For at least a year, the town has been under a so-called KTO regime (the Russian initials for counterterrorism operation), which allows security forces to conduct random searches, impose curfews and detain any foreigners who do not carry a special visitor’s permit, as happened to me this spring. At the checkpoint leading into town, the troops who stopped me could not say exactly how long the counterterrorism operation had been going on. “A long time,” one of them said with a sigh. “Probably a couple of years. You should have known about it.” And when would it be over? “Not soon. Not with the Olympics coming up.”
The Olympic Games, which will be held about a day’s drive from Buynaksk in the Russian city of Sochi in February, were roughly nine months away at the time. But President Vladimir Putin’s campaign to stamp out the local Islamist insurgency had already been pushing ahead for at least that much time. Thousands of Interior Ministry troops had been sent to the region of Dagestan, where Buynaksk is one of the largest towns, to reinforce the local police against jihadi fighters, and KTO regimes were cropping up like brush fires in a heat wave. Some of them lasted only about a week, during which troops would seal off a town or village and bombard the hideouts of suspected insurgents until they were killed, captured or escaped. Others, like in Buynaksk, dragged on indefinitely, imposing on the local population a form of martial law, which in Russia usually amounts to police impunity.
Although Asiyalova’s motives remain unclear and the details of her biography sketchy, she seems to fit the profile of other Muslims from the Caucasus who have turned to terrorism as a form of revenge against Russia, taking out their anger on the nation they see as an occupying force. “The organizers of these terrorist attacks prey on people’s frustrations,” says Yulia Yuzik, a leading expert in Russia on female suicide bombers from the Caucasus. “They play on pride, on people’s desire to defend their religion, their nation and their dignity.”
The self-proclaimed leader of the insurgency in southern Russia is Doku Umarov, a warlord from the region of Chechnya, whose stated goal is to turn the Caucasus, including Sochi, into an Islamic caliphate governed by Shari‘a. This summer, he released a video message calling on his followers to use “maximum force” to disrupt the Sochi Olympics, which he called “Satanic games to be held on the bones of our ancestors.” Monday’s attack was the first suicide bombing to strike the Russian heartland since Umarov issued this directive. “My main worry is that it may be the first one in a series,” says Pavel Baev, an expert on the Caucasus at the Oslo-based Peace Research Institute. “Every rebel mastermind knows how vulnerable Putin’s pet Olympic project is.”
As the attack on Monday clearly showed, the militants who operate in Dagestan are perfectly capable of staging attacks far outside their home turf. According to Russian media reports, the bomber’s husband, a Russian convert to Islam named Dmitri Sokolov, was an active member of the insurgency in Dagestan and a self-trained explosives expert. Investigators claim he built the suicide vest for his wife and that the bombing was planned by a terrorist cell in Dagestan, one of dozens thought to be active in the region.
Amid the crackdown leading up to the Olympics, there has been little sign that these groups have been weakened or even contained. Between the start of July and the end of September, 133 people were killed in the conflict between militants and government forces in the North Caucasus; the majority of them — 86 people — were killed in Dagestan, including 32 police offices, according to Kavkaz Uzel, an independent news services that keeps a tally of the violence based on media reports. That is up from a death toll of 118 across the North Caucasus in the previous three months.
Anne Speckhard, who surveyed the motives of suicide bombers for her recently published book, Talking to Terrorists, says the brutal raids against insurgents in the Caucasus may actually be swelling their numbers in the lead-up to the Olympics. For the militant leaders, “the most important thing is consolidating recruitment and membership. And they are very cynically willing to manipulate traumatic bereavement for those ends,” says Speckhard. Bamako (AFP) - Islamists fired shells on Wednesday towards the airport in Gao, Mali's second-largest city, but did not cause any casualties, a source from the Malian army headquarters said.
"The Islamists fired shells towards the airport in Gao" where French and Malian soldiers are stationed, the source said.
There were no victims and the situation had been brought under control, the source added, as French army helicopters were dispatched to chase the militants.
The attack is just the latest to hit Mali's north in recent weeks in the aftermath of a French military intervention in January to oust armed groups linked to Al-Qaeda that had occupied the vast desert north for the previous nine months.
Under heavy attack in the cities of Gao, Timbuktu and Kidal, the Islamists retreated into the desert and the cover of the Ifoghas mountains.
But the fragile peace did not last, and on September 28 the militants resumed their deadly insurgency, killing a dozen civilians and UN peacekeepers across the north in three weeks.
Jihadists wounded two civilians and killed a Malian soldier when they blew up a bridge and fired rockets on Gao in October.

China paper blames blind faith of "uncultured" youth for Xinjiang unrest

BEIJING (Reuters) - Uncultured youth who have been misled by religious extremists are a main source of unrest in China's heavily Muslim region of Xinjiang, its top newspaper said on Tuesday, after the government blamed Islamists for an attack in central Beijing.
A car ploughed through bystanders on the edge of Tiananmen Square and burst into flames on Monday last week, killing three people in the car and two bystanders. The government called the incident a terrorist attack carried out by Islamist militants from the far western region of Xinjiang.
More than 40 people were hurt, and the police have detained five people in connection with the attack for plotting what it said was a holy war.
A front-page commentary in the official Xinjiang Daily accused ethnic "splittists" of ignoring the great changes the ruling Communist Party has brought to the region, saying extremists were distorting Islamic teachings.
"In recent decades, you can see that most people who blindly follow religious extremist forces are elementary-school, secondary-school or uncultured young people," said the commentary, signed by a person the paper identified as an ethnic Uighur member of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles in Xinjiang.
"We loathe this kind of ignorant behavior, and detest these evil spirits."
Many of the Turkic-speaking Uighurs who call Xinjiang home chafe at restrictions on their culture, language and religion, though the government insists it grants them broad freedoms.
Xinjiang has been the scene of numerous incidents of unrest in recent years, which Beijing blames on the separatist East Turkestan Islamic Movement, even as many experts and rights groups cast doubt on its existence as a cohesive group.
"The authorities really need to take a step back and look at the results of their policies, and whether those are effective, in obtaining what we assume they want to obtain, which is less violence and more harmony," said Corinna-Barbara Francis, China researcher for Amnesty International.
China has not taken kindly to suggestions that its policies may be more to blame for the unrest than any terror group.
Prominent Beijing-based Uighur economist Ilham Tohti, a longstanding critic of Chinese policies in Xinjiang, told Reuters on Tuesday that state security agents had physically threatened him on Saturday for speaking to foreign reporters.
"I want to kill you," Tohti said an agent told him in a calm voice, after ramming his car from behind. "I want to kill your whole family."
Security has been stepped up in Beijing and Xinjiang following the incident on Tiananmen Square.
The main Uighur exile group, the World Uyghur Congress, said that a further 24 Uighurs had been detained recently, warning China risked provoking a backlash.
"The authorities have been stepping up their repression in Uighur areas ... using armed men to check them," the group's spokesman, Dilxat Raxit, said in an emailed statement.
"If the international community does not take emergency measures to stop China's provocations and repression, the Uighurs who have no hope will resist and fight back as a matter of survival."

Geneva (AFP) - Nigeria's Boko Haram Islamists could be classed as war criminals, the United Nations human rights office said Tuesday, as it condemned a bloody attack on a wedding convoy.
"Members of Boko Haram and other groups and entities, if judged to have committed widespread or systematic attacks against a civilian population ... (could be) guilty of crimes against humanity," said Cecile Pouilly, spokeswoman for the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.
The Islamist insurgents have killed dozens of people over recent days in restive northeast Nigeria, first storming a town on motorbikes and pick-up trucks and then carrying out highway ambushes.
Boko Haram gunmen were blamed for Saturday's slaying of more than 30 people, including the groom, when a wedding convoy was halted on a road near the border with Cameroon.
Pouilly called the wedding convoy "atrocious" and condemned Boko Haram's campaign of "cowardly attacks" against civilians, politicians, members of government institutions, foreigner and the security forces.
In May, Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan declared a state of emergency across the northeast and launched an offensive aimed at crushing at the Islamists' four-year uprising.
The conflict has claimed thousands of lives since 2009 in Africa's most populous country and top oil producer.
Besides condemning the Islamists' bloody campaign, human rights groups have also slammed government troops for killing civilians and for other violations in the battle zone.
"We are also following up closely with the Nigerian authorities allegations of abuses and human rights violations which may have been committed by security forces when conducting operations," said Pouilly.
She noted that the Nigerian military was in the process of finalising a report on people detained in connection with the insurgency, and urged the government to disclose its findings.

Moscow (AFP) - A Moscow region court on Monday sentenced three men to life in prison for their roles in a 2011 suicide bombing attack on a major Russian airport that killed 37 people.
The January 2011 Domodedovo International Airport strike was claimed by the Caucasus Emirate movement of Islamist warlord Doku Umarov.
The rebel commander is seeking to establish an Islamist republic in Russia's volatile North Caucasus in the south of the country and has threatened to disrupt next year's Winter Olympic Games in the Black Sea resort of Sochi.
Russian authorities established the identity of the suicide bomber as Magomed Yevloyev -- a member of a militant group that answers to Umarov. Investigators said that his attack was plotted at a camp in Ingushetia run by a Caucasus Emirate leader Aslan Byutukayev.
The Moscow regional court ordered Yevloyev's brother Akhmed, who was accused together with Bashir Khamkoyev of hosting Yevloyev in the city of Nazran, providing him with money and putting him on a bus to Moscow, to serve a 10-year sentence in a standard-regime penal colony.
The Interfax news agency reported from the courtroom that Akhmed Yevloyev denied knowing his brother had planned to attack the Moscow airport.
Three others -- brothers Islam and Ilez Yandiyev and Khamkhoyev -- received life sentences in maximum security penal colonies on terrorism and other charges.
The brothers had met Yevloyev upon arrival in Moscow and organised his transportation and lodging in the capital, the Investigative Committee said.

A Danish appeals court recently upheld the conviction under a Danish hate speech law of an Iranian-Danish woman for her remarks condemnatory of Islam. Coming amidst the controversial statements by another Dane of Muslim background, this conviction raises troubling questions about who may say what about Islam.
The artist Firoozeh Bazrafkan ran afoul of Danish authorities with a blog entry printed in a December 2011 issue of the Jyllands-Posten newspaper of 2005 Danish Muhammad caricature notoriety. Bazrafkan expressed being "very convinced that Muslim men around the world rape, abuse and kill their daughters." Such abuse resulted "according to my understanding as a Danish-Iranian" from a "defective and inhumane culture—if you can even call it a culture at all." Bazrafkan deemed Islam a "defective and inhumane religion whose textbook, the Koran, is more immoral, deplorable and crazy than manuals of the two other global religions combined."
As explained in an interview, Bazrafkan had appropriated the text with light personal editing from the free speech activist Lars Kragh Andersen. Bazrafkan acted in solidarity with Andersen after his conviction under Section 266b of the Danish Penal Code (in Danish here) for the same posting at the news website 180Grader. As one English translation reads, Section 266b punishes any public "pronouncement or other communication by which a group of persons are threatened, insulted or denigrated due to their race, skin color, national or ethnic origin, religion or sexual orientation."
Bazrafkan's motive was "to show Lars support because, as a Danish Iranian, I know what a big problem Islamic regimes are." "Islamic codes give men the rights to do whatever they want to women and children," something called "disgusting" by Bazrafkan, and "also prevent people in Iran from discussing and saying what they want." Bazrafkan sought an "artistic manifesto to show that we cannot say what we want and we cannot criticize Islamic regimes." Accordingly, Bazrafkan's website includes a video showing a casually-clothed Bazrafkan jump roping on top of an Ayatollah Khomeini photo (other Bazrafkan criticisms of Islam and Iran are available here and here).
Denmark's Western High Court on September 16, 2013, convicted her on prosecutorial appeal from successful district court defense. From a panel of three judges and jurors each, five found Bazrafkan guilty of presenting "statements in which a group of people are mocked and degraded because of their belief." The reviewing court sentenced Bazrafkan to a 5,000 Kroner fine or five days in prison, a decision she intends to appeal to the Danish Supreme Court before going to prison in lieu of paying the fine.
Opposing the decision, Bazrafkan noted that she did not say that "ALL Muslim men committed horrible acts," but merely offered a "critique of religion," something Section 266b "shouldn't be used to protect." The Iranian-born former Muslim Bazrafkan had also previously criticized Judaism and Christianity, but was more concerned with her repressed relatives in Iran. Bazrafkan claimed for people the right "to write whatever they want," even "if it's stupid or well formulated…so long as they don't threaten other people." Police dismissed a person who threatened to dismember and feed to his dogs Bazrafkan, meanwhile, as unserious.
Bazrafkan's intellectual arguments were unavailing in part because, as Jesper Langballe stated during his December 3, 2010, district court "confession," Section 266b's "sole criterion of culpability…is whether someone feels offended…not whether what I have said is true or false." Like Bazrafkan, the Danish parliamentarian Langballe suffered a conviction for condemning Islamic norms justifying abuses of women. Indeed, Danish country reports to the European Union's Fundamental Rights Agency (see here and here) describe Section 266b as applicable to anyone who "makes a statement or imparts other information" with the stipulated offensive nature. Danish journalist Lars Hedegaard, meanwhile, narrowly escaped a Section 266b conviction in 2012 after the Danish Supreme Court determined that he had no intention of publicly disseminating his condemnation of Muslim male treatment of females.
Concurrent with Bazrafkan's legal difficulties, Yahya Hassan, an 18-year-old Palestinian-Danish poet, has attributed high criminality rates among Danish youths with migrant Muslim backgrounds to poor Muslim parenting. Hassan, who entered an institution at age 13 after several years of juvenile delinquency, complained of watching "our fathers passively rot on the couch with the remote in their hands, living off state benefits, accompanied by a disillusioned mother who never put her foot down." Muslim youth "who became criminals and bums…weren't let down by the system, but by our parents." Although Hassan has not faced any Section 266b prosecutions, numerous graphic death threats have appeared at the Facebook page of a television show in which he appeared.
With European societies becoming increasingly heterogeneous, Islamic beliefs and behaviors criticized by Bazrafkan and Hassan demand discussion in an open forum free from legal retribution. Serious policy issues concerning Islam in free societies will simply not disappear due to a politically correct mandated silence. Laws like Section 266b are accordingly not just a threat to liberty, but to security as well.

Russia detains 15 members of banned Islamic group in Moscow

MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russian security forces detained 15 suspected Islamist militants in Moscow on Wednesday after confiscating improvised bombs and other weapons in a raid on an apartment, the Interior Ministry said.
It said in a statement that the detainees were members of a group called Takfir Wal-Hijra, which was banned in Russia as a religious extremist organization in 2010, and were led by a man who had come to Moscow after studying in Arab states.
Russia has tightened security in the run-up to the Winter Olympics, which it will hold in the southern resort city of Sochi in February, and President Vladimir Putin has staked a lot of personal prestige on organizing a successful Games.
Fourteen people were detained in the raid and the 15th was detained separately, the Interior Ministry said.
It accused the group of trying to recruit people into radical Islam, including ethnic Russians and other Slavs, and members were suspected of carrying out robberies, assaults and other crimes to finance their activities.
During the raid, three homemade bombs and components of explosive devices were found, as well as grenades, guns that fire plastic bullets and extremist literature, it said.
The detainees included citizens of the Central Asian states of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, people from Russia's mostly Muslim North Caucasus and two ethnic Russians, the ministry said.
Islamist militants in the North Caucasus carry out frequent attacks in the region, but have also carried out deadly bomb attacks in Moscow. Arrests of alleged militants are relatively rare in the Russian capital.

LONDON (AP) — A man accused of killing an off-duty British soldier in a frenzied knife attack on a London street defended his actions in court Monday, saying he carried out the attack because he is a soldier fighting in the service of God.
Michael Adebolajo, 28, said that he attacked soldier Lee Rigby because he wanted to protest Britain's invasion of Muslim lands. He claimed to be one of many fighters engaged in a war between Islam and Western countries.
"I'm a soldier ... I couldn't do anything else," he said when asked whether he had any regrets.
Adebolajo spoke calmly and clearly as he was cross-examined at London's Central Criminal Court on Monday, telling jurors that while he had never met anyone from al-Qaida, he was full of admiration for the terrorist group.
"I love them. I consider them brothers in Islam," he said.
Adebolajo and fellow defendant Michael Adebowale, 22, are accused of murder in connection with Rigby's death, a brutal slaying that shocked the country. Both deny the charge, and Monday's hearing was the jury's first chance to hear directly from one of the defendants about what led to the attack.
Adebolajo laid out his life story, saying his parents were Christian and he used to read from the Bible, but he became frustrated and converted to Islam during his time in university. He said he had tried to travel to Somalia so that he could live under Sharia law, but was detained by Kenyan troops before he could get there.
Turning to the attack, he said that he tried to make sure that Rigby was a soldier before he killed him, saying he hoped the death could "indirectly save the lives of many."
"I was keen that the reason for the death of this man is not misunderstood. I wanted people to understand ... It only happened for one reason only, and that is foreign policy," he said.

As for your comments on history, they are simply a so what – wake up. I live with the people of the land, instead of isolated communities of my people, and that is what your people should do. Wake up, get real. Your big problem is you can not accept REALITY, and shrug off unpleasant facts when presented. The British Sheiks you should use as an example and start imitating them instead of being isolationist.” A good example of this problem is their Prima-Donna superior attitude of wanting state supported schools just for Muslims. You do NOT SEE other religions requesting same. In fact, this is just what the government should not provide as it only makes them more ISOLATIONIST, and this is not what is needed; to wit, integration is what is needed just as the British Sheiks have done.
REALITY, ISLAM LOVES VIOLENCE AND WILL NOT CLEAN HOUSE
Guilt Comes On Organizations That Fail To Clean House Of The Wicked Ones:
INTRODUCTION:
First, The world we live in is ruled by the wicked one as testified to by 1 John 5:19, “And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.” (Authorized King James Bible; AV). If we pick up a newspaper in any country, we find reports of cruelty and violence on an unprecedented scale. Man’s inhumanity to man is troubling for a righteous person to contemplate as testified to at Ecclesiastes 8:9, “All this have I seen, and applied my heart unto every work that is done under the sun: there is a time wherein one man ruleth over another to his own hurt.” (AV).
Second, Most individuals and/or groups seek to avoid responsibility for their own actions rather than take corrective actions. This also applies to so called religious groups that seek to absolve themselves of responsibility for the wrong actions of members, but fail, willingly, to take action against these wrong doers by purging themselves of these wicked ones.
THE REALITY:
If a religion fails to clean house of evil and wicked men when they are discovered, and especially of evil and wicked men/women taking the lead in a congregation, and/or congregations such as Pastors, Ministers, Sheiks, Imams, Bishops, Cardinals, Etc., then the religion is responsible for their wrong doing. Some religions such as Islam have never cleaned house of evil and wicked individuals when they are discovered and that religion has been violent since its beginning, and many of its members lust for violence in such acts as beheading of others, suscide bombers, makers of IEDs, etc. do to the teachings of their groups religious leaders. One notable example of an evil and wicked individual Islam well knows of who is a leader of a large group of members of Islam is Sheik Osama bin Ladin. Of course, Islam, is NOT the only religion that fails to take effective action against evil and wicked individuals and leaders of groups among them, another is the Catholic and Angalican churches that for many years just moved pedophiles to a new congregation when they were uncovered as the world's news media has so well identified. Groups seeking to keep themselves clean of evil and wicked individuals that sneak into their group take the appropriate action; to wit, they throw them out.
Now many religions seek to escape reality by claiming they have no provisions within their religion for purging out these wicked ones, but this is no excuse since it is their failure to provide measures for purging out these wicked ones and no one else’s.
Now let’s look at one such religion that tries to escape their responsibility for cleaning house so to speak.
ISLAM FAILS TO CLEAN HOUSE:
Now of course it is important to recognize that not all Muslims are terrorist and jihadists nor refuse to recognize the property rights of others, it is likewise equally important to recognize that all jihadists are members of Islam. Islam is totally responsible for their actions as they tacitly approve of their evil wrong doing and have never cleaned house of these wicked ones. To wit, by not doing so, they have taken on the responsibility for their wrongful actions upon themselves. Yes, of course they are not the only religion that has failed to clean house; thus taking on the guilt of these wrong doers. Any religion, no exception, which fails to clean house is nothing but an evil false religion. And as previously stated, ‘Now many religions seek to escape reality by claiming they have no provisions within their religion for purging out these wicked ones, but this is no excuse since it is their failure to provide measures for purging out these wicked ones and no one else’s.’

Take the genocide committed by the Roman Catholic Church at the direction of their supreme religious leader, the pope (Pope Innocent III (1160 or 1161 – 16 July 1216)), what mattered was not that the Bible clearly said at Exodus 20:13, "Thou shalt not kill." (Authorized King James Bible; AV), but what their religious leaders told them. Therefore, it is the religion which is at fault, irregardless of what their particular holy book, be it the Bible or the Bible knockoff the Qur'an may say. Neither in so called Christianity or in Islam are most individuals actions really governed in any way by what their particular holy book really says, but they are governed by the interpretation of their religious leaders. Thus, knowing this reality, one would be either just plain stupid and/or dumb to even bother looking at a particular religion's holy book and expect the members would conform to it. Take the Rig Vede and find me for example a Hindu actually conforming to it instead of the interpretation given to it by his religious leaders, like looking for a needle in the haystack per K.S. Lal, India's greatest historian.
Likewise the failure to clean house of evil ones puts their wrongs directly upon the organization failing to throw out evil/wicked ones when they are found out.
Members of Islam Plan To Attack The USA Again, See Public Statement By Abubakar Shekau
LAGOS, Nigeria (AP) — The leader of an Islamic extremist group in northeastern Nigeria boasts in a new video of a daring attack on military bases in a provincial capital and threatens to attack the United States next.
Few believe the Boko Haram terrorist network currently has the capability for such complex attacks, although some officials fear its insurgency could spread to neighboring states. In his first statement since the United States designated Boko Haram a terrorist network last month, Abubakar Shekau swore at the U.S., calling it a prostitute nation of infidels and liars. The U.S. government in July posted a reward of $7 million for information leading to Shekau's arrest.
He claims the U.S. cannot hurt his movement, citing the Sept. 2011 terrorist attacks as evidence. "If you had the capability, you would have done it in your own country. Where were you when your World Trade Center was bombed, including your Pentagon, when you were confronted on your own turf?" he asks.
The authenticity of the video could not be independently verified. However, the video was distributed through the same channels the group has used before. Eyes glaring with anger, Shekau is seen gesticulating wildly in the video as he vows: "By Allah, we will never stop. Don't think we will stop in Maiduguri. Tomorrow you will see us in America itself."
A Nigerian unrelated to Boko Haram, Umar Farouk, sewed a bomb into his underwear to try to blow up a U.S. airliner heading from Amsterdam to Detroit on Christmas Day 2009. He is serving a life sentence.
Farouk, like Boko Haram, has spoken out against the massive corruption in oil-rich Nigeria that allows many politicians and businessmen to live in opulence while the majority of Nigerians struggle to put food on the table. The mainly Muslim northeast has the worst rates for poverty, literacy and health care. Nigeria's 160 million people are almost equally divided between Christians and Muslims.
Shekau's video includes footage said to be of a brazen Dec. 2 attack on an air force base outside Maiduguri, capital of Borno state, showing night shots of blazing buildings as explosions blasted, victims could be heard screaming.
Hundreds of extremists in all-terrain vehicles and on motorcycles led by a stolen armored personnel carrier also stormed and destroyed artillery barracks two kilometers (1.2 miles) from the base. It was unclear how such a large convoy could move undetected at night in an area under curfew. The bold attack at the heart of the military operation against the insurgents confirmed doubts about military claims to have driven insurgents out of all northeast urban centers, and raised questions about the effectiveness of a 7-month-old state of emergency. Lets' set the record straight before the year ends:
Israel is not an apartheid Nazi state. Islam is the largest practitioner of both gender and religious apartheid.
Infidel violence against or hatred of Muslims is a mere drop in the bucket. Muslim-on-Muslim violence is a pandemic and indigenous feature of Muslim-Muslim relationships, beginning with the endless religious feuds between Sunni and Shiia Muslims.
Today, Muslims are torturing, exiling, and blowing each other up in Egypt, Syria, Somalia, Sudan, Pakistan, and Afghanistan—to name only a few Muslim-majority countries.
While the West may be imperfect, mea culpa, mea culpa, Islam has a very long and bloody history of imperialism, colonialism, anti-Black racism, conversion via the sword, slavery, and the above mentioned apartheid.
The miserable Brits have just built a large "Security Wall" at St James Church in Piccadilly and plan to use it to continue demonizing the Jewish state for the next twelve days. It is an "art installation," political theatre, very trendy.
Not shown, never mentioned, are the names or graves of Israeli civilians, including children and the elderly, who were being blown up and butchered during the height of the Al Aqsa Intifada; not mentioned are those who were disabled for life; but mainly, it is forbidden to say that the "security wall" worked, that the number of Israeli civilian casualties plunged because it existed.
Jesus was not a "Palestinian." He was a Jew, some say he was a rabbi, and that the Last Supper was a Pesach seder. The attempt to appropriate Jesus as a victimized "Palestinian" by the very Muslims who are slaughtering Christians all over the Middle East and who have driven Arab Christians out of Bethlehem is typical, disgusting, and must continually be exposed.
Israel may not be a perfect nation but its Arab citizens, both Muslim and Christian, are the only Arabs in the Arab world who enjoy religious freedom, can vote and express themselves freely, and who have been peacefully elected to Parliament.
As Hamad Amar, a Druze citizen of Israel and the Speaker of Israel's Knesset has written in The Hill, an American Congressional blog:
"In our whole region consisting of over 350 million Arabs, there are only 1,658,000 Arabs who have complete political and religious freedom and have the right to vote in full democratic elections. It is no coincidence that all of these Arabs live as full and equal citizens in the one Jewish State."
Israel values human life, its enemies value death, murder, martyrdom. To redeem Gilad Shalit, Israel released terrorists with blood on their hands to return as glorified heroes and to resume their "careers" as terrorists. Jews value life this much.
I hope and pray that Jonathan Pollard will finally be set free while he and I are both still alive and I hope that Israel does not have to pay too dear a price for his freedom.
Israel is compassionate and humanitarian. It has provided medical aid to Syrian refugees, and before that to Lebanese in flight from Arafat's terrorism. Israel has sent medical and emergency teams all over the world wherever there has been a flood or an earthquake.
Israel takes care of its own; the world does not exactly care about Jews. Israel is not a parasite on the international community. Thus, Israel absorbed all the Jews living in Arab lands who were exiled or who had to flee their homes in Muslim-majority countries in the Arab Middle East, North Africa, and central Asia.
It did not demand that the UN pay for this massive relocation project. The same cannot be said for the Arab countries which have refused citizenship to the "Palestinians," and indeed, who created the very concept of a Palestinian people where none had ever existed, as a force with which to exterminate Jewish Israel.
Oh, I could go on but for now, please allow me to wish all those Christians who support Israel, who love Israel, even more than some Jews do—the most wonderful holiday.

Kano (Nigeria) (AFP) - The leader of Nigeria's Boko Haram Islamists, Abubakar Shekau, has claimed a daring December 20 raid on a military barracks in the restive northeast, in a video obtained by AFP Friday.

The insurgents stormed the barracks in the town of Bama in a convoy of trucks before sunrise, opened fired on the soldiers inside then torched the compound. Several witnesses said the gunmen kidnapped soldiers as well as women and children.
"Our fighters stormed the Bama barracks," Shekau said, while seated on a mat and flanked by a group of armed men.
Shekau has released a series of videos since taking control of the rebel group more than three years ago. The latest recorded statement was delivered to AFP through the same channel as previous messages.
"This is a victory from Allah," said the wanted insurgent leader after claiming to have destroyed "21 armoured tanks" and killed "multitudes" in the raid.
The military has not released a death toll from the barracks attack and rescue agencies have largely been barred from working in the northeast since a state of emergency was declared in the area in May.
According to the defence ministry, more than 50 "terrorists" were killed when ground forces backed by fighter jets pursued the fleeing Islamists after the raid.
Residents told AFP that an unknown number of civilians were killed and four villages destroyed during the military response.
Shekau has been declared a global terrorist by the United States, which put a $7 million (5.1 million euros) bounty on his head. Nigeria has separately offered 50 million naira ($300,000) for information leading to his capture or death.
In the video, Shekau appeared to mock the notion that one of his loyalists would betray him in exchange for a reward.
"What is 50 million naira? We do not worship money. As for those who are in our midst, Allah has taken care of them," he said.
The Bama attack was the second major strike on the military in the northeast this month and was seen as a reminder that more than seven months into a military offensive aimed at crushing the insurgency, Boko Haram remains capable of striking high profile targets.

Islam Claims To Be A Religion Of Peace, But Reality Shows Otherwise
INTRODUCTION:
Many religions, Islam in particular, claim to be exactly what they are NOT. Take for example Islam and apostate (counterfeit) Christians, they do NOT like each other, but in many ways they are so much alike.
Throughout history Islam which claims to be a religion of peace has attacked apostate (counterfeit) Christians and has attempted to steal land and people from them, and then cried fowl when they struck back. How ridicules and hypocritical that is for any group; to wit, to initiate blood guilt and then yell when the other group defends itself and strikes back.
For example, Islam yells about the wrongs of the apostate (counterfeit) Christian Crusades that started in 1095 with the First Crusade under the directions of Pope Urban II, and ended with the Ninth Crusade in 1289. Of course, the apostate (counterfeit) Christians committed many atrocities such as their wrong doing against the Jews in Jerusalem by the Franks, one of the groups making up the Crusader forces. However, in reality, Islam was responsible for all that occurred as they lit-the-fuse that caused the crusades to take place with their blood guilty war like ways as we shall see in this article with facts that can be checked by all.
FIRST CRUSADE THE RESULT OF ISLAM'S LUST FOR WAR:
Now let's look at the facts of the First Crusade from history and see how the greed and war like ways of Islam brought it on.
A turning point in western attitudes towards the east came in the year 1009, when the Fatimid caliph of Cairo, al-Hakim bi-Amr Allah, had the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem destroyed. His successor permitted the Byzantine Empire to rebuild it under stringent circumstances, and pilgrimage was again permitted, but many stories began to be circulated in the West about the cruelty of Muslims toward Christian pilgrims; these stories then played an important role in the development of the crusades later in the century.
The immediate cause of the First Crusade was Alexius I's appeal to Pope Urban II for mercenaries to help him resist Muslim advances into territory of the Byzantine Empire. In 1071, at the Battle of Manzikert, the Byzantine Empire had been defeated, and this defeat led to the loss of all but the coastlands of Asia Minor (modern Turkey). Although the East-West Schism was brewing between the Catholic Western church and the Greek Orthodox Eastern church, Alexius I expected some help from a fellow Christian. However, the response was much larger, and less helpful, than Alexius I desired, as the Pope called for a large invasion force to not merely defend the Byzantine Empire but also retake Jerusalem. "Today we must show those who live in the Kremlin … that our kindness is not weakness," said Mr. Umarov, dressed in camouflage and wearing his trademark bushy beard. "They plan to hold the Olympics on the bones of our ancestors, on the bones of many, many dead Muslims buried on our land by the Black Sea. We as mujahadeen are required not to allow that, using any methods that Allah allows us."
On Sunday and Monday two suicide bombers detonated their explosives at different sites in Volgograd, a city, like Sochi, located just a few hundred miles from the Caucasus. Neither Umarov nor anyone else has claimed responsibility yet for the bombings, which killed at least 32 people and wounded dozens more. What’s certain, however, is that just weeks before the Olympic opening ceremonies, the attacks are bringing new tremors to a country that has struggled to quash a 20-year terrorist insurgency.
For analysts who have studied terrorist tactics, in Russia and elsewhere, it seems likely that Umarov had a hand in the attacks. Successful suicide bombings are difficult to plan, organize, and execute. And there aren’t that many groups with that ability in the North Caucasus, says Mia Bloom, a professor who has written several books examining female suicide bombers in Russia and other places. (Early reports from Russia claimed that the attacker on Sunday was a woman.)
“Doku Umarov is one of those guys who follows through. He specifically mentions getting Russians, to humiliate Putin, particularly because of Sochi,” says Ms. Bloom who teaches at the Center for Terrorism and Security Studies at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell. “It follows a pattern (for Umarov): the use of women, the use of simultaneous attacks, the use of hitting transportation infrastructure, the repetition of it, these are all theleitmotifs of his work,” she says.
John Horgan, who directs the UMass terrorism center, says the absence of Umarov taking responsibility may in fact indicate there are more bombers waiting to attack.
Umarov is latest iteration of the Chechen insurgent legacy. A veteran of the two wars and the stubborn violence that has ravaged Chechnya and the entire North Caucasus since the Soviet collapse, Umarov rose to prominence in the 2000s alongside notorious terrorist leaders such as Shamil Basayev, a fellow Chechen, but also radicalized jihadis from places like Jordan or Saudi Arabia with names like al-Khattab, Abu Hafs, and Abu Walid.
The presence of these foreign fighters helped turn the Chechen fight from a secular, ethnic-based independence cause towards a pan-Islamist, cross-border movement that spilled into other parts of the Caucasus.
In 2007, after Russian forces killed a series of top commanders including Basayev and gained the upper hand in Chechnya, the insurgency began to fracture. Umarov declared himself “emir of the Caucasus Emirate,” an umbrella of rebel groups through the North Caucasus. Umarov used suicide bombers – which Basayev had helped introduce to Russia earlier that decade – in incidents like the 2002 Moscow theater siege, and the 2004 seizure of a school in Beslan.
MOSCOW BOMBINGS
Between 2009 and 2011, there were a series of spectacular attacks in Moscow, and a slew of other bombings around the North Caucasus, including the 2009 bombing of the high-speed train to St. Petersburg; the 2010 suicide bombing of two Moscow subways stations; and the 2011 suicide bombing at Moscow’s Domodedovo airport. All were claimed by Umarov.
By 2011, the Caucasus Emirate was officially designated a terrorist group by the US State Department, and a $5 million reward was announced for information leading to Umarov's capture.
Since the second Chechen War erupted in 2000, Kremlin’s tactics in the North Caucasus have turned to using local allies to take the lead in fighting insurgents like Basayev and Umarov. That, along with millions of dollars in investments and infrastructure building, has helped bring a semblance of calm to Chechnya.
Other regions, however, continue to fester – such as Dagestan, a republic east of Chechnya that is a mosaic of ethnic groups who live uneasily side by side. Dagestan was the region that Tamerlan Tsarnaev visited in the months before planning the Boston Marathon bombing in April. It was also reportedly home of the female suicide bomber whose attack on a Volgograd bus in October killed six people.
Umarov’s activities were relatively minimal in months leading up to the July video, which has led to speculation that he was consolidating his authority among Caucasus groups and laying the groundwork for new attacks connected to Sochi.
The Sochi Olympics, which open Feb. 7, are the most expensive games ever, with the Kremlin estimated to have spent close to $60 billion to prepare the Black Sea city and the surrounding mountainous countryside to host thousands of athletes, tourists, and dignitaries. Sochi is about the same distance from Chechnya as New York is from Washington, though the formidable Caucasus Mountains prevent driving directly.
By most accounts, President Vladimir Putin has staked his personal prestige on Olympic success, and Russian security services have spent years preparing to ensure the games are not disrupted. That may be the main reason why terrorists have targeted other cities like Volgograd, which is a major transportation hub for southern Russia, experts say.
The Olympics also provide a ready venue for high-profile attacks to raise awareness of a group’s cause, similar to what happened with the 1972 Munich Olympics, says James Forest, former director of terrorism studies at the US Military Academy. Those games were tarnished by the killing of 11 Israeli athletes and coaches by members of a terror group wanting to draw attention to the plight of Palestinians.
CONCLUSION, OTHER EXAMPLES OF ISLAM'S GREED AND LUST FOR WAR AND VIOLENCE IN MODERN TIMES:
A great example in modern times is Islam's unprovoked attack on the World Trade Center in New York and their land grab of land to which the Jews hold rightful title given to them by the true God (YHWH) of Abraham in Palestine.

They shed crocodile tears over what allegedly may have occurred in a prison in Cuba, but ignore what crimes against humanity are committed daily in Iraq by members of Islam. People and soldiers are daily being murdered by members of Islam. They kill their own and apostate (counterfeit) Christians on a daily basis, but pay no attention to this wrong.
Likewise, they shed crocodile tears because these individuals in this prison have NOT been given a trial, but in the entire history of Islam, individuals captured on a battlefield were never given any real trial to establish their guilt or innocence; what hypocrisy! Also, they forget that NO German prisoner in WW2 was given a trial, either in apostate (counterfeit) Christian controlled nations nor in Muslim nations. Whereas, some have actually been released from this prison either due to finding them innocent or giving them to other governments to deal with, a first in warfare.
Also, Islamic squatters on lands to which the true God (YHWH) of Abraham gave clear title. Here is what one Bible dictionary had to say on the subject.

This resulted in thorough cultivation and use of the land. Inheritances were not allowed to circulate from one tribe to another. So as can be seen, the Jews have clear title to all of Palestine and NOT the apostate (counterfeit) Christians Crusaders nor members of Islam. But what do the members of Islam squatters do, they seek to kill Jews dwelling on land to which they have rightful title because they want it for themselves as is usual for Islam. They send suicide bombers in to murder Jews, and send in military rockets to do the same evil thing - now how can anyone in his right mind call Islam a religion of peace. Witness the recent attack on 06/26/2006 on a Jewish military camp where members of Islam murdered two Jewish soldiers who were doing them no wrong and kidnapped a third whose whereabouts is unknown on 06/27/2006; this despite the fact that the Jews are willing to let the Islamic squatters dwell on a large area of their land, and only want peace, i.e., to be left alone and not attacked and murdered.
Does all of this indicate a religion of peace? Definitely not.

Suspected Muslim rebels blamed for bomb attack in Thai south

PATTANI, Thailand (Reuters) - Suspected Muslim rebels in southern Thailand killed three soldiers and a district election official in a bomb attack on Sunday as a general election was being held around the country.
Police said the violence was not related to the election that has divided Thailand, with anti-government protesters and the main opposition Democrat Party opposing the vote.
Jatra Promkaew, an election official in Pattani province, was killed along with three soldiers after gunmen fired shots at a security checkpoint and set off three bombs, police said.
"Four people died in an attack carried out by a group of around 20 insurgents," Pattani chief of police Phot Suaysuwan told Reuters. "The attack was related to ongoing violence in the southern provinces and unrelated to the election."
Thailand went to vote under heavy security on Sunday in an election that could push the country deeper into political turmoil.
Ten people have died and at least 577 have been wounded in politically related violence since late November.
Voting was going smoothly in the predominantly Muslim southern provinces of Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat, said national security chief Paradorn Pattanathabutr.
Thailand is a mainly Buddhist country and resistance to central government rule in the Muslim-majority provinces has existed for decades, resurfacing violently in 2004.
The opening of peace talks with rebel groups last year has done nothing to end violence in the south, where more than 5,700 people have died since January 2004.
The three provinces were once part of a Malay Muslim sultanate before being annexed by Thailand in 1909. Muslims in the area largely oppose the presence of tens of thousands of soldiers and armed Buddhist guards in the region.

MANY MEMBERS OF ISLAM ARE ISOLATIONIST – THIS IS BAD FOR ANY NATION THEY ARE IN:
Many Muslims do not want to integrate into regular society. As I said to one Muslim, “##### you are way out in left field, no one cares whether you drink or do not eat pork – I do not either – but you have NOT integrated with the people around you. Whereas, I have integrated – that in no way implies that you must adopt their bad ways - and have experienced no prejudice. It is high time you wake up to reality. As for your comments on history, they are simply a so what – wake up. I live with the people of the land, instead of isolated communities of my people, and that is what your people should do. Wake up, get real. Your big problem is you can not accept REALITY, and shrug off unpleasant facts when presented. The British Sheiks you should use as an example and start imitating them instead of being isolationist.” But objecting to others eating pork is just plain discrimination and being an isolationist.
Now let’s look at how their isolationism is causing trouble.

Massive Muslim enclave planned for Toronto area
Residents of Thornhill Woods, a suburb of Toronto, Ontario, are up in arms about a proposed "high-density Muslim community" there. On land that includes its Jaffari Centre mosque, the Islamic Shia Ithna Asheri Jamaat (ISIJ) wants to add a pair of 17-story condo towers and 61 townhouses, prompting a parade of objections at a public hearing on February 4. Though many concerns focus on overcrowding in the low-density neighborhood, some fear a Muslim-only enclave. Developer Shafiq Punjani insisted that "it will be open to everybody," but ISIJ president Shabbir Jeraj has said the opposite (see video at the link). Asked if the housing will be exclusively for Muslims, he replied, "Of course! Because we are building it. We are paying for it."
Also alarming is that the ISIJ-affiliated East End Madrassah was using Iranian teaching materials that call Jews "crafty" and "treacherous," while urging boys to stay fit "so that you may physically be ready for jihad whenever the time comes for it." Moreover, the ISIJ demanded that Ontario's government apologize for welcoming Salman Rushdie. Problematic Muslim enclaves are not uncommon, but the boldness of the ISIJ plan, the radicalism of its backers, and its location in a "predominantly Jewish area" make this a particularly interesting battle to watch. A city council-sanctioned working group will offer rezoning recommendations by summer.

Ex-staffer sues Boston hospital after being fired for refusing flu vaccine
"A former Children's Hospital Boston employee who said she was fired because her Islamic beliefs prohibited her from getting a mandatory flu shot sued the hospital," the Boston Business Journal reports. Leontine Robinson apparently balked at the traces of pork-derived gelatin contained in it. She claims to have been permitted to skip the shots for years, which is disturbing, but the matter came to a head when a stricter policy was enforced in 2011. According to the article, her suit explains that the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, in a flash of common sense, "dismissed a similar complaint she had filed with the agency against Children's."
As detailed in a previous IW news brief, some British Islamic leaders advised Muslims to avoid a flu vaccine for children in 2013. The Boston dispute also highlights broader requests to exempt Muslim health workers from standard safety practices. Daniel Pipes compiles prominent cases, many from the UK, including rejections of alcohol-based antibacterial hand lotions and rules about leaving the lower arms uncovered to ease washing and prevent contamination when treating patients. Among the concessions was an order letting British Muslims wear disposable sleeves for modesty. In contrast to a number of topics tracked by IW, there is little gray area with this one. Religion simply must not take precedence over the health of others.
Pork in Scandinavia: To serve or not to serve
Scandinavians continue to debate the accommodation of Islamic dietary norms by restricting the availability of pork in certain establishments. Remarks from two freshly appointed cabinet members reflect the divide. One camp is represented by Manu Sareen, Denmark's integration minister, who "told Politiken newspaper that it should be up to every council, daycare institution, and hospital to decide whether to ban pork for the sake of the Muslim minority." Dozens of Danish childcare facilities have dropped pork. Comparable changes have appeared in Sweden.
On the other side is Sylvi Listhaug, Norway's agriculture minister. "We cannot stop serving pork because Muslims have moved to Norway," she stated, citing a trend witnessed in hospitals, prisons, and so forth. "Those responsible for food in public institutions should put pork on the menu, and then make sure that those who do not eat pork can get something else." The right-of-center Listhaug was echoing Sareen's left-of-center boss, Helle Thorning-Schmidt. "We need to remember in our zeal to welcome new citizens not to lose sight of our own culture," the Danish prime minister cautioned last year while speaking out against the withdrawal of pork products. "We have to stick with the way we eat and what we do in Denmark. There should be room forfrikadeller [meatballs]." Indeed.

Zombie Osama target puts Canadian politicians in the crosshairs
Two Conservative Party politicians from Alberta, MP Rob Anders and candidate Melissa Mathieson, provoked the thought police by posing at a gun range with a zombie Osama bin Laden target in the background. This paints Muslims "as people who should be shot or belittled," said Souheil Merhi, chairman of the Muslim Council of Calgary. "As leaders, they should promote tolerance and show the real image of Canada, a peaceful place where people come to enjoy freedom of speech and religion, and not being judged because of somebody else's actions."
We have been here before. In 1998, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) sought the removal of billboards in California that were "reinforcing negative stereotypes of Muslims" by featuring bin Laden's picture and describing him as "the sworn enemy." Last year, CAIR convinced a Michigan gun shop to quit selling targets that "perpetuate hate" by portraying bin Laden as a turban-wearing, rifle-toting skeleton. Such overt capitulation was not replicated at the Canadian range, but the responses were uninspiring nonetheless. Anders claimed not to have noticed the target; Mathieson tried to duck the issue entirely. Wiser politicians would have seized the chance to defend freedom of expression and critique self-anointed Muslim spokesmen and their bizarre aversion to caricatures of the arch-terrorist. Timidity in confronting the various strains of radical Islam will ultimately reshape our societies more than bin Laden ever could.
